This sound insulation kit helps to make decoupling a little easier by using the market-leading Genie Clips and Channels.

This soundproofing kit is high mass and high performance.

• Install timber studs to the existing wall. An airgap can be left to create an independent stud for a better performance. The deeper the stud frame and airgap the better the performance will be at low frequency. Install the studs at either 400mm or 600mm centres. 
• Infill the stud with the same depth of insulation. Hush slab or RWA45 Rockwool can be used. 
• Install GenieClips to the studs. Install a clip every other stud and in the channels perpendicular to the studs at 400mm or 600mm centres depending upon the load. The clips should be installed in a diamond grid pattern. For detailed installation instructions on GenieClips see link here. The channel then clips into the GenieClip with no mechanical fixings. 
• Fix Siniat 15mm DB Acoustic plasterboard to the genie furring channel. Leave an expansion gap of 50mm around the perimeter of the boards and infill with an acoustic sealant. Again install in a brick bond pattern. 
• Install Tecsound Self adhesive membrane to the plasterboard. Ensure complete coverage of the plasterboard and but joint the sections of tecsound together. If there are any gaps infill with acoustic sealant. Tecsound Self adhesive membrane is available in 3 weights. The higher the weight the better the acoustic performance. Tecsound SY50 (5KG PER M2) Tecsound SY70 (7KG PER M2) Tecsound SY100 (10KG PER M2).
• Install Sinat Fireboard 15mm Over the Tecsound self adhesive membrane and fix through to the furring channel. Again install in a brick bond pattern and leave an expansion gap around the perimeter of the wall of 5mm and infill with an acoustic sealant. The wall can the be tape an joint finished or skimmed and decorated.
