The Roundhay Mansion
We are pleased to have been a part of bringing a prized historic building back to life.
The Mansion at Roundhay Park, Leeds, commands an exceptional view of the expansive park landscape, providing the idyllic setting for its new role as the venue for social & corporate functions – and especially for the perfect wedding.
We were asked by the project architect, Nick Mee of Matthews Mee, to advise on sound insulation measures to make the Mansion suitably fit for purpose.
Of key importance was the need for good sound separation – both for airborne & impact noise – of the ground floor Colonnades room from the Mansion room above. The Colonnades is used for the wedding ceremony; the Mansion room is the function room for the Wedding Breakfast and celebrations (including dancing).

It initially appeared that our task may not be so difficult since the wedding party would be in one room or the other, not both simultaneously. This however was not the case, as it was essential to the business plan for the Mansion for simultaneous events to be accommodated.
We were again able to provide the project with a specification – and installation of our proposed Maxiboard ceiling lining. Post-installation verification of results was planned via formal testing, but the client opted for using his ears alone to confirm delighted satisfaction.
