When Pam Davenport from Coalters contacted us with their noise problem we were ready at hand with a predicted solution.
Most significant to the problem was the internal fit-out of Coulters’ offices: a “front-of-house” open-plan Reception/multi-user workspace separated from three adjacent rooms by a single partition tellingly finishing to the underside of a tiled suspended ceiling; partitions similarly fitted forming Meeting/Consultancy, Kitchen & W/C. Our site survey confirmed that sound was readily carrying over the partition via the ceiling void.
The Consultancy room is often used to meet with clients to discuss financial and other matters of a confidential nature. Our brief was to provide a proposal for remedial treatment for improving sound insulation, thereby both reducing sound breakout from the room to achieve speech privacy, and prevent noise entering the room to eliminate disturbance and distraction.

The solution:
- Sound Reduction Systems ltd (SRS) “Soundblocker 25 ” pads were fitted over the suspended ceiling tiles & hoods over lights
- W/C water pipes in the ceiling void were acoustically lagged
- The Consultancy entrance door was fitted acoustic seals to perimeter & base.
